Students will develop an awareness, understanding, and appreciation towards participation in physical activities for a lifetime of fitness and health. Students will demonstrate the proper form and technique of skills used in the various lifetime activities. Students will be expected to gain knowledge in the 5 components of fitness: Muscular Strength, Muscular Endurance, Cardio Endurance, Flexibility, and Body Composition. Health and Nutrition will also be incorporated into the course. Assessments will be conducted through skills tests, tasks, written tests and/or game situations or tournament play. Students will also develop cognitive, social, and physical skills needed to succeed in this course through direct instruction, independent practice and cooperative learning.
